From his debut as director of Boyz N The Hood, John Singleton made history as the first African American to be nominated for Best Director.
He continued to influence cinema by writing and directing culturally significant, authentic films such as Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, and Baby Boy. He later expanded into television, where he co-created critically acclaimed series Snowfall.
Though John passed away on April 28, 2019, his legacy is preserved in the powerful stories he brought to the screen and the careers he influenced.
This site will act as a living archive to celebrate the enduring impact of John's art in film, television, and beyond.
